Seriously, when did I get old?!
I started noticing signs of aging in my face in my mid forties.
But, like other mamas of young children (I had my rainbow baby at the age of 42), I didn’t have time to focus on ME. “Besides”, I thought, "I still look younger than most women my age, so I can afford to wait to get serious about my skin for a little while longer”.
But here’s the thing: aging happens so slowly that you don’t notice it until it’s jumping out at you. I saw the the lovely “smoker’s lines” forming around my nonsmoker’s mouth, but I didn’t notice the age/sun spots or crow’s feet that were developing.

And then I saw my “before” selfie. 😱
Let me back up a bit.
A few years ago, I started to lament to a friend about the need to up my skincare game. I had been using the same skincare regimen for 15+ years, and each time a new shipment of my skincare products arrived (I was on an autoship program), I told myself that I would switch to a better skincare regimen as soon as I exhausted my current supply of products. But I kept forgetting to cancel the autoship.
About three years later, I found myself off schedule. I had run out of my night cream, and I couldn’t go without a night cream while waiting for my next shipment to arrive, so I ran down to my local beauty supply store.
Upon entering the store, a polite sales clerk asked me if she could help me find something.
“Yes! I ran out of my regular night cream that can only be purchased online so I need to find a substitute! Do you have any skincare products that are animal cruelty free (ACF)?”
I was introduced to an ACF line that was also heavily marketed as “organic”. I tested the line’s anti-wrinkle overnight cream on the back of my hand and was so amazed with how smooth it made my hand feel right away that I walked out of the store with the entire age-reversal regimen to the tune of about $350.00 and promptly cancelled all future orders of the tired regimen I had been using as soon as I returned home.
Alas, I didn’t see any improvement from using the new line, but I figured I had passed the window wherein I could reverse the signs of aging I had developed without the use of Botox or fillers, and since the product line seemed to be full of quality organic ingredients (like vitamins and stem cells from fruit), I was confident that it was at least slowing down the aging process on my face. Additionally, I felt really good about using something that was formulated without animal testing.
Then my friend added me to a closed group on Facebook that was full of photos posted by women who had experienced dramatic results with a different skincare line.Maybe she noticed that the new skincare line I was raving about wasn’t doing anything to improve the way my skin looked, either.
Still, I wasn’t interested in learning about other skincare products because strongly felt that I was already using the best skincare products that aligned with my values (vegan, ACF and nontoxic)-but I couldn’t ignore those dang before & after photos.
After a week or so of being constantly bombarded by those photos on my Facebook feed, I finally asked the group if anyone had experienced results with “smokers’ lips”. Since my inquiry was met with crickets (the post is still there!), I had to try the products myself just to satisfy my foregone conclusion that it couldn’t do anything more for me than my current skincare products.
When the new products arrived, I promptly took my “before” selfie-you know, just to provide a scout photo for my friend to prove that I was right.
Only I wasn’t right. Just 2-1/2 days later, I casually snapped a progress selfie and was shocked to see visible improvements already. I figured it had to be the lighting, so I ran upstairs to take another selfie in the same spot with the same lighting as my before photo. And I still saw the changes. So I ran downstairs to ask my chemical analyst husband if the changes I saw in the photos were really happening. After careful scrutinization, he concluded that the changes were 100% legit. My skin was looking as good as it felt (which felt AH-mazing immediately after using the products the very first time)!
This time, I didn’t even wait to exhaust my current supply of skincare products. This time, I dove into a skincare regimen that not only aligned with my vegan, ACF, nontoxic values, it was also luxury, top-tier clinical grade-and all at a price point that was less than the line I was already using!
And then I realized another bonus: I could actually get paid to use these skincare products!
As my friends were noticing my radiant skin, they became customers and partners who are now spreading the word and building this baby brand with me from the ground floor (so we’re talking about the real potential to earn legacy income here, folks!) and today I’m among the top 5% of achievers in the entire company! (I know: it’s crazy, right?!)
I wasn’t even looking for it, but now I have something that’s all my own. Something that makes me feel as radiant as my skin. And now I’m on a mission to help all women bring out their own radiance.✨
Let’s get you on your way to glowing! 💫
